Black Saturday, February 7th, 2009

It was a terrible day and many shocking fires threatened our lovely State of Victoria.

When Australia’s worst bushfire struck regions across Victoria on Black Saturday, February 7, 2009, it took over 170 lives, left more than seven thousand people homeless and became the country’s most devastating disaster in history.

Since then many people have worked hard to ensure that such a catastrophic event will never occur again.

Post some comments about what you can remember about Black Saturday. You were in Grade 2 or Grade 3.

  1. I remember on almost every single channel it was about the really bad fires.
My Aunty Jodi lives in Horsham and I began to get scared because the fires were really close to where she lives.
It was a terrible day and I will never forget The Black Saturday Fires.
I hope it never happens again!
